These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Meros mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Meros ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Meros is an AI-powered meal planning application that helps users create personalized weekly meal plans based on their pantry inventory, dietary preferences, and weight loss goals. The Service includes features such as barcode scanning, calorie tracking, grocery list generation, and AI-generated meal suggestions.

3. Not Medical Advice

Meros is not a medical service and does not provide medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. All meal plans, calorie targets, and nutritional information provided by the Service are for informational and convenience purposes only. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition.

Before making any significant changes to your diet, starting a weight loss program, or if you have any pre-existing medical condition, please consult a qualified healthcare provider or registered dietitian. Do not disregard professional medical advice because of information you received through the Service.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service.
• Use the Service to collect data about other users without their consent.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
• Use automated tools to access the Service at a rate that exceeds normal human usage.

6. Subscription and Payments

Meros offers a free tier with limited features and a premium subscription ("Meros Premium") that unlocks full functionality. Premium subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store and are subject to their respective terms.

• Billing: Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.
• Cancellation: You may cancel at any time through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued.
• Price changes: We may change subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
• Free trials: If a free trial is offered, you will be charged at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before it ends.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Meros. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

By submitting content to the Service (such as meal ratings or preferences), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that content to improve the Service.

8. Third-Party Data Sources

Nutritional information in the Service is sourced from USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts. This data is provided "as is" and may not always be accurate, complete, or current. We make no warranty regarding the accuracy of nutritional information displayed in the Service.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MEROS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Meros and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of significant changes via email or an in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Utah.
