Meros ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use the Meros app:
- Account information: Your email address and password when you create an account.
- Profile and health data: Age, weight, height, calorie goals, dietary restrictions, and food preferences you provide to personalize your meal plan.
- Pantry and meal data: Foods you scan or add to your pantry, meal ratings, and food logs.
- Apple Health data (optional): If you grant permission, we read your weight and activity data from Apple Health to reduce manual logging. We never write to Apple Health without your explicit action.
- Usage data: Anonymous analytics about how you use the app (screen views, feature usage) to help us improve the product.
- Device information: Device type and OS version for troubleshooting purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To generate personalized meal plans using AI (powered by Anthropic's Claude).
- To build and maintain your pantry inventory.
- To track your weight loss progress and calorie goals.
- To improve our AI recommendations based on your meal ratings.
- To send transactional emails (e.g. account verification, password reset).
- To provide customer support when you contact us.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate the app:
- Anthropic: Meal plan prompts are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate meal suggestions. No personally identifiable information beyond your food preferences and calorie goals is included in these prompts.
- Supabase: Provides our authentication and file storage infrastructure.
- Resend: Sends transactional emails on our behalf.
- RevenueCat: Manages in-app subscription billing (premium plan).
- Open Food Facts / USDA FoodData Central: Used to look up nutritional data for scanned barcodes. No personal data is sent to these services.
4. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
5. Your Rights and Data Deletion
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To delete your account and all associated data:
- Go to Profile → Account → Delete Account inside the app, or
- Email us at support@meros.kitchen with the subject "Delete my account" and we will process your request within 7 days.
6. Children's Privacy
Meros is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and access controls to protect your data. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
